Rural Building
We build as far north as Kalbarri, and as far south as Esperance in the Lower Great Southern and Augusta in the South West. We build out to the east in the Avon and Upper Great Southern, and everywhere in between. A view, a lifestyle, a dream. Whatever brings you to that once-in-a-lifetime location we've got a design to do it proud.

As individual as you are, our homes transport you to the country, with big open living spaces, huge picture windows to let the outside in, and all the features you expect from a rural hideaway. Take your pick from our range of ready-to-build designs, or let us work our magic to design something truly bespoke.Just for you.
Services
In 1992, as the 'tree change' movement gathered momentum and more people decided to turn their backs on the city, The Rural Building Company stepped up to answer the call for individual designs made for country living. As part of the family-owned and run JWH Group of award-winning residential builders, we can honestly say building is in our blood.
For nearly three decades, The Rural Building Company has been helping people build a country-inspired home - whether they're building in the country, on the coast or in a more urban setting. Over the years The Rural Building Company has built more than 6,000 homes for Western Australians, cementing its reputation as the home builder of choice in regional WA.
Stepping inside one of our display homes is like stepping into a brochure for your favourite retreat. At one with its surroundings, with features carefully selected to bring out the best in a variety of locations and lifestyles, each display is alive with ideas and inspiration. Visit our display homes Saturday and Sunday 12-5pm and Wednesday 2-5pm.
Through our custom home designs you will see a wide range of what we have built and have the ability to create. Some of the homes featured have been built for clients to suit their budget, block and lifestyle. Whether it be a rural or coastal setting, many of these homes have been inspired from our existing range of designs, with people putting their own personal touches and creating something they can call their own.
Lots of questions arise when you build a new home. Here, we answer some of the most common ones. Please contact us if you have a question that isn't answered below, and we'll be happy to help. Our display homes are open Saturday and Sunday 12:00pm-5:00pm and Wednesday 2:00pm-5:00pm, unless stated otherwise.

RBC bought a block in our suburb, cleared the whole thing including a 40 year old hedge which was gorgeous and right on the front boundary (so not in the way at all), and AFTER that, applied for permission to the Shire to build a display home. Got a letter from them after all that, saying they are 'environmentally friendly' and put a lot of work into 'landscaping' the home. Well, you'd have to put a lot of work in after destroying all the other vegetation on the block and leaving a dustbowl for months (work hasn't started yet after months)! After this display of a total lack of care and communication

They wil be building a "low environmental impact" display house in our suburb. Ironically, they totally cleared the block of any vegetation (trees, and a huge hedge dating back 50 years that was beautiful and would not have affected the building envelope) which dramatically and negatively changed the streetscape. No consultation with residents nearby. We are considering building a house but these plonkers are not on our list.

Critical: Quality
Poorly trained tradesman, standard rehearsed lines when addressing issues, poor supervising, and after care build repairs virtually non existent. Why wouldn't you just do the job right the first time instead of addressing ongoing complaints.

Critical: Quality, Value
Went to view a new build in Parkerville. First impression of the house is gorgeous. There it ended , when entering the salesman looked up and grunted we presumed a greetings, did not get off his stool. Asked if wanted any help or advice. Decided to go home 🙁

Critical: Responsiveness
Disappointing customer service ultimately resulting in a lost customer. For anyone thinking of building with RBC, the sales team will refuse to deal with you if you have had brief email correspondence with another rep (that can't find time to meet you)

Exceptional Builders! The best in Perth! We've dealt with 3 builders in the last 20 years, and RBC is by far the best and worth every penny. Our new home is 18 months old and the after sales support has been exceptional. I wanted to wait to do my review as nothing really should go wrong in the first year - and I'm happy to report all is great - in fact tradies that visit the house always have positive things to say about the construction and RBC's reputation. I'd highly recommend RBC and wouldn't hesitate to build with them again.

Not happy. We built this house 13 years ago and we are still fixing things and trying to get things right from when we built as almost every thing was done wrong, the worksmanship was shoddy, the finishes were awful, even fan switches were put on the wrong way, everything’s falling apart. This was suppose to be a top of the line house in their range and took them 2.5 years to build and nothing was done right. Even the electrical’s weren’t done properly which almost caused a fire and we are still having troubles with. The lady we dealt with during building was awful, she was rude and honestly

We built our first house with them. We opted to use them as the sales rep assured us they were a small company that would be easy to interact with, understood rural issues and had an emphasis on quality.
We ended up with a good quality home; however the journey was not smooth. The pre-start process was shambolic and ended in us having to make vast amounts of changes throughout the process, communication during the build was poor and some staff members were far from helpful. They claim to specialise in rural properties but their knowledge of rural issues such as BAL and Stormwater Management was

Amazing service company feels like a family so much more flexible and understanding than any other company. Way more choices and options they really listen to their customers needs and desires and make possible what everyone else said was impossible and ridiculed us for even mentioning it. Getting our dream home in our budget!!! Other builders just beat your spirits into a preplanned box and what's the point of building. Now we can dream and they make it happen!!!
