Brian McCarthy and Adrian Simpson started HazElec in 2009, with a view to servicing Hazardous Area and Industrial electrical customers around Cairns and Far North Queensland. Bad Customer Service!
Living in the Torres Straits it's hard enough to get reliable mechanics for anything. This company advertises that it travels to Cairns, Townsville, Torres Straits and everywhere in between... I rung up this morning to try and organise air con's to be installed and some to be repaired/servicing at my place of business (she didn't even bother asking what I needed) The lady that I spoke to flat out said "no we do not travel to the Torres Straits... I thought she meant not travelling soon so I've asked her "well when are you travelling up next" she's said again we don't travel

2 electricians showed up instead of 1 which hadn't been agreed to. They arrived at 8:45 am and left at 11:15 am. A few days later I get an non-itemised bill for $822. Asked for an itemised bill which showed a charge of 4 hours for each electrician instead of 2.5 and for 2 breakers when only 1 was supplied. Had to speak to the manager to have 1 breaker removed from the bill and the time reduced to 3 hours each electrician (they charged me half an hour travel time for each electrician from their depot to my house and back!!) The overcharging may have been done in error but things like sending 2 electricians

Would love to rate these guys higher but unfortunately have had a bad experience. Asked them to come and assess, and if worth it, clean an old Split System and 2 Window/Wall Box air-cons. They attended and let me know that one of the box air-cons was out of gas and not worth repairing but the split and the other box air-con just needed a clean. Split system is working better than ever so great job there. The box air-con they cleaned was working ok before they came but just dirty from years of buildup. After cleaning it started rattling fairly loud - also there was a screw left out. Called them
