The risk of bushfire attack on properties in NSW is a reality. The Bushfire Construction Standard AS3959-2009 calls for an improvement in building and construction standards with a view to protect homes and people from the bushfires and flames. In order to protect your property against this risk, your property must have bushfire shutters.
With the construction of the new "Wet n Wild" water theme park in Sydney, The construction company Lipman Group found that the water park had surrounding bushland. They knew they needed to install aluminium bushfire shutters to cover the windows on the modular buildings. In addition to the potential threat brought by the bushland, they also had to consider the extreme heat and sun glare that could affect them during the hot summer days.
When Bernadette approached us to install roller shutters on her property, there were two important factors that had to be considered. First, Bernadette was building in an area deemed as BAL FZ, her property backed onto a steep hill which had very dense bushland. Gosford city council requirements state that she must have bushfire roller shutters rated to BAL 40.
Nicholas Ridley was having his new home built by Story Book Designer Homes. The property was located in a BAL FZ area which meant he had to meet bushfire safety requirements. I thought I would hate the shutters; that they were an ugly unnecessary part of our FZ building requirements. I have totally changed my mind. Michael, Brad and the team have installed a great looking integrated modern IOT product that adds thermal efficiency, privacy and fire protection (if we ever need it). We have recently had FZ shutters installed as a DA requirement for a two storey house in Hornsby Heights. Whilst we hope to not ever have to use them in the face of bushfire we are enjoying their extra benefits in keeping the warmth in at night, blocking out light in our children’s bedrooms and keeping our home secure. We were concerned about how they would look however they are very modern and we actually like the way they frame our windows and doors. The technology used in their operation from our phones is easy to use and impressive. The company have listened to and resolved all of our concerns
