Russell Stark Roofing
Website
Russell Stark first kicked off Stark Roofing, a metal roofing company e.g. ColorBond and Zincalume in Brisbane in 1982 with the motto: If you want it to last, ring Russell Stark. Even though it is over 35 years later, the motto and the idea behind it have not changed. Russell believes that a roof should be totally waterproof, so that you do not have to worry about leaks.

When you choose Stark Roofing to replace your roof, you are choosing experience and a highly skilled team who have a solid understanding of the importance of roofing and guttering. Health and safety and environmental awareness are high on the list of team values. Our aim is to provide you with the highest standard of service and tradesmanship with the least inconvenience.

When replacing roofs, we not only take into consideration strength and durability, but we also want you to have the best-looking roof line possible so that it will add value and beauty to your property. We therefore ensure that the work is done neatly, with laps and screws in line etc. so that it is aesthetically pleasing.
Services
Stark Roofing is a family-owned business led by Russell Stark, who has more than 35 years of experience in metal roofing and guttering work. He has done everything from replacing a downpipe on a car shed, to reroofing houses, or working on industrial buildings a kilometre long.
Because the roof keeps rain, hail, and sunshine out of your home, it appears to be the most important piece of protection for your house. However, it is important to remember that guttering and downpipes are vitally important because they help keep the foundations of the building solid. If we did not have guttering on houses, water would flow off the roof, down the walls and onto the ground, causing erosion beside and underneath the building.
The legal requirement for downpipes may vary from council to council, but as a general rule, downpipes must move rainwater from gutters to stormwater drains or water storage tanks, and never to sewer pipes or septic tanks. One 100ml downpipe usually caters for 70 square metres of roof in South East Queensland, and so if your house is of average size (around 160 square metres), you will probably need 3 downpipes to cope with summer storms.
This section explains the choices made around installing a metal roof. As you will learn, choosing from ColorBond or Zincalume is only the first part of the decision you need to consider. The pitch of the roof affects the ceiling space which impacts on room temperature in the part of your home where you live.
Unless you have a flat roof, or a cathedral ceiling, the space between your ceiling and the roof acts like a buffer against the sun beating down in summer and the loss of warm air from rooms in winter. Placing insulation in the ceiling cavity helps to improve the buffering, making your home cooler in summer and warmer in winter.

We live at The Gap Brisbane. In late 2016, we called for quotes to change our roof from concrete tiles to Color-Bond corrugated iron plus new guttering and pipes. Mr Stark was very patient in answering our questions. He gave advice which we found helpful in choosing options. His price was the lowest of several quotes, He did everything he promised including finishing on time, At completion he reported that all work complied with the Australian Standard Plumbing Code. I can see no reason to doubt this. Despite storms, there was no damage to the house while work was in progress. After completion
