Services
Each council is responsible for enforcement of the building standards of the Building Regulations within its district - except where the Building Act provides otherwise. For example, if a private building surveyor, the Victorian Building Authority or the Crown is carrying out regulatory functions it should not be necessary that these are duplicated by a council.
Membership is established by acceptance of a nomination from a Member of the association. There are three main categories of membership, member, associate member and corporate member. For further details on nomination for membership, refer to Rule 3 of the Rules of Victorian Municipal Building Surveyors Group Incorporated.
A person being a member and municipal building surveyor must propose nominations, the Register provides contacts of Members. Nominations are to be lodged with the Secretary of the Victorian Municipal Building Surveyors Group Inc. The Secretary of the Victorian Municipal Building Surveyors Group Inc. will then refer the Nomination to the Committee for determination.
