Talk is cheap however, and we don't expect our customers to leave the fate of their outdoor areas to us blindly.
When I met the owners of this job I was asked to come out to the backyard and scale the 45 degree slope which led to the back boundary. The owners felt they had this wide but not very deep area that was basically unusable, steep and ugly. I knew that terracing would be good but it had to have movement, it had to flow.
To begin with this was a little different to most in the way that the client had asked for some ideas or a concept without them having too strong of a focus on what their ideas were, I guess I was given a lot of freedom to design and suggest ideas. Once I had established the concept we picked and chose the aspects which they really liked and left the ones out they we not as keen on.
With any landscaping project, there are a few key principles that are required to make a job really work. That is to be complementary to the home, have functionality and also be maintainable. And that's why this garden ticks all of the boxes and more. From the street, walking into this property the garden reveals more to you as you descend down the sandstone stairs.
