This Upper Orara residence was originally an interwar house in Coffs Harbour, very significant for this town as not much survives from that time. The building structure was moved to a rural property in the 80s, and was in non original and somewhat poor condition when our clients found it around 10 years ago.
Ann's clients had been renting this Middle Boambee residence for many years as interim accommodation while searching for their dream home in Coffs Harbour. Ultimately their search proved fruitless, and over time they became very fond of their peaceful semi-rural location, though the residence was sorely in need of improvement.
Our clients came to us because their house was clearly not living up to the spectacular location. The views of the solitary islands were obscured, the layout confused and the house dark. The outdoor entertaining areas were small and mostly uncovered, and there was not enough car parking allowed for onsite to match council requirements.
When our clients came to us a few years ago with a desire to build as an investment for their future, we thought no plan could be more foolproof. It would be straightforward to do medium density residential development in Sawtell right near the beach. The twist came of course, when they told us they would like to retain the 'beach cottage' style, and create single rise pitched roof detached dwellings.
Zego specialise in manufacturing interlocking polystyrene blocks which when core-filled with concrete and reinforcing provide a strong and insulated construction material suited to many domestic and commercial projects. The North Sapphire Zego House was to be sited in the prestige lots in a new development in the North Sapphire Beach Estate.
