To achieve a Burnished/Salt and Pepper polished floor, it must be mechanically steel troweled with a power trowel (helicopter) to within an inch of its life. These floors are 99.9% in the concreter's hands to get perfect, where we can only take credit for the pleasing shine and hard-wearing look through the process of Mirafloor polishing.
Developed over sixteen years ago incorporating real-world experience of concrete finishing for homes, businesses, and industry, Mira floor is a comprehensive concrete-finishing system designed to maximise the aesthetic and functional benefits of polished concrete in any environment. When you choose Mira floor you're not choosing a boxed product - you're choosing an integrated concrete solution.
Light Exposure is a combination of salt and pepper and a patchy exposure of aggregate that many people find very attractive. If you desire to achieve a Light Exposure floor, we cannot stress enough it begins with THE SLAB! The slab must be poured as evenly as possible and have a burnished finish, attained by multiple passes with the helicopter (powered trowel) by the concreter.
Full Exposure is where the maximum possible exposure of aggregate (pebbles) is sought. This finish is both striking and beautiful, however, a perfectly balanced exposure of aggregate is completely reliant upon the quality of the concrete slab! A Full Exposure grind can be achieved with a remarkable consistency of aggregate density when the slab is prepared by an experienced concreter who is aware and understands the finishing required.
Salt and Pepper is a very fine grind, removing approximately 2 mm from the surface of the floor. Highlighting neutral tones with the allowance of colour variations due to placement, a Salt and Pepper grind is a popular floor. However, to achieve such a grind it is crucial the concrete poured is exceptionally flat to limit any risk of a half-exposed floor as a result of an uneven concrete base.
