I like to think my love and knowledge of plants combines seamlessly with my appreciation of good design. I have been fortunate enough to have been creating such gardens for the last 20 plus years, which is both my passion and true vocation in life. I honestly adore the notion of enticing people outdoors and bringing them back to nature through realising their garden's full potential.'
The initial consultancy is the first step in the landscape design process. Jaye Metcalf will personally visit your garden to gain a true sense of the space. Then, through detailed discussion, she develops a good insight into your personal taste, preferences and lifestyle and design requirements. The existing site conditions along with the project budget are also considered in order to ascertain the best direction to take in the design process.
Stage 1. THE CONCEPT PLAN: an inspiring concept plan reflective of the extensive information gathered during the initial consultancy will be developed and presented. This is a vital communication tool in the design process and is intended to be the first draft of the final design. As such, it is very open to client feedback.
Jaye Metcalf Designer Gardens enjoys professional relationships with a number of Melbourne's leading landscape contractors, builders and specialist tradesmen, all of which have individual strengths and areas of expertise. We will happily recommend the best landscape contractors or specialist tradesmen suited to tender the construction work of your project, and, if desired, we can even manage the selection process on behalf of our clients.
With a background in horticulture, our principal designer, Jaye Metcalf, has expertise in sourcing and hand selecting the highest quality plants available. Having established excellent working relationships with Melbourne's best wholesale nurseries, we not only have access to superior quality plants, but we are able to obtain them at wholesale prices!

We recently had our front garden in Elwood redesigned by Jaye and we are ecstatic with the result. It is a relatively small and complex area however Jaye has delivered a result that is fresh and beautiful. It lifts and compliments the whole house – no mean feat given it is a late 1800’s weatherboard. Jaye worked with us to listen to our needs, she came back with some exciting initial concepts and then after further discussion she captured the very essence of what we wanted, perfectly. Who knew that a garden could bring such joy? We had a large, under used front garden that had no kerbside appeal at all. Jaye has used her incredible talent and creativity to bring us a garden that has surpassed all our expectations. Now all we want to do is spend time in it. We can't thank Jaye enough. She was an absolute delight to work with and we would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending her to others so that she can work her magic on their gardens.
