In the late 1880's, a holding yard for second-hand timber and building materials salvaged from demolitions commenced trading in Melbourne's inner city suburb of Clifton Hill. The business changed hands twice before being taken over by Frank DeMartini. The business, which remained essentially a destination for second-hand timber, became DeMar Timber & Demolition.
DeMar Timber & Hardware is a family business owned by Alan and Myriam Webster. Employing over 15 staff members, each industry trained and experienced, DeMar has built an outstanding reputation by providing a level of personal service unparalleled in the industry. Senior staff in timber and hardware sales include Paul Webster and Liz Webster, have 20 to 30 years of experience each in the industry.

I bought treated pine and merbau decking for my project but one piece treated pine was broken and merbau decking were bowed. It’s very hard to use and took me long time to straighten when installing. Also, no return for left over so be careful when you calculate the amount if you don’t want to waste money.

Cowboys... I bought ply from them in a pinch (first preference was Plyco but they we're too busy in the timeframe I needed). Asked for the cutting service and they provided the wrong sizes. Had to follow up three times before they cut the new pieces. They seemed to be more concerned about pinning it on the "Irish guy" (it wasn't the Irish guy). As I was in a hurry I didn't check what I picked up and they'd shafted me with some water logged pieces. Spent the next few days fixing that issue rather than deal with them again.

Needed a few 2 metre timber planks so went to DeMar as they cut to size. The site is a masterpiece of order and neatness. It is easy to see all the different timbers they have from the entry gate. The guys were very helpful and competent. They also have a hardware store on site. Very happy with their service.
