Asphalt is a mixture of bitumen aggregate and sand brought together in a mill at around 180 degrees. The finished product is a hot solid mouldable material that has to be laid and compacted within a few hours of being mixed. Hand laying with experienced tradesmen leaves a very good surface but for best results Machine Laying is preferred.

Statewide Bitumen are equipped to carry out any sized crack sealing job from cracks in your driveway, carpark or road. Small jobs can be caried out with 10 Gallon crack machines and the larger jobs are done with 500L hot rubber machines. Statewide Bitumen are the only company that can supply coloured rubber crack repairs for coloured concrete and asphalt surfaces.

Site preparation is a key to ensuring a long life for any drive or pathway surface. Lack of preparation will lead to failure. Therefore make sure your contractor prepares the site taking into account the proposed use of the surface. For example a driveway must have a solid base. Placing bitumen or asphalt on an unprepared sub-base will fail.
