PlaceMate principal architect Jan Hogarth's philosophy is centred on creating high quality, beautiful spaces that will hold their value to endure time and trends. Jan specialises in residential architecture and has designed over 700 domestic building projects of all sizes and budgets from Moreton Bay to Boggabilla, Mooloolaba to Byron Bay, to all over the western suburbs of Brisbane.
As Brisbane architects, Queenslander renovations are PlaceMate Architect's bread and butter. We've designed renovations to over 400 of these historic timber homes originally built from 1900 to World War Two. Found all over Brisbane, Queenslanders are defined by the Brisbane City Council as a "Character House" in a "Demolition Control Precinct".
Most of us get just one chance to renovate the family home. But there's no economy in a quick builder's-fix if the outcome is poor design and a loss of value in not only your home but also your quality of life. I cannot recommend Jan and her team highly enough. They understood our needs perfectly and translated them into a beautiful, practical and cost effective design for our new home. Additionally they were able to guide us through the processes of certification, development approval, builder selection and the choice of fixtures and fittings. I would not hesitate to use PlaceMate Architects again.

We engaged Jan and her team at Placemate for our small block renovation in West End, Brisbane. Fantastic result, Jan's creative genius solved tricky problems related to BCC restrictions and what we were aiming to achieve. Renovation is now finished (Yay!) and throughout the process they were extremely helpful (thanks Amy!), again, jumping in to solve unforeseen technical issues. Everyone who visits always comment on what a clever use of space, thanks Placemate!
