While I've been designing and making furniture for more than a decade, my life as a woodworker began in earnest in 2010 when my partner and I were living in Denmark. I established Eco wood design in Copenhagen, specialising in custom-designed and built furniture. Aesthetically, my designs are driven by my interest in creating objects that are both functional and elegant.
I have been making furniture for nearly 20 years. I love to make unusual, interesting or quirky pieces but I like making pretty much anything. Some pieces might be quite straightforward and uncomplicated, while others might take weeks of thinking, experimenting and designing to resolve a difficult design or construction problem.

Stephen has only just delivered a beautiful walnut and blackwood cabinet for our sound system, records and CD’s. We could not be more pleased. We immediately liked his initial creative concept and enjoyed his collaborative approach to finalising the design. Stephen kept us informed of the build with progress reports which kept us confident about the timelines. Stephen did a great job on the custom timber furniture he fabricated for our spare bedroom. These included a bay window seat with storage, built in cupboard with shelving and a built in desk. He worked with us to the deliver the design we were looking for. He communicated well during the construction to confirm specific fixings (such as handles and hinges) and when the design would best be altered to improve it.

Stephen Ziguras of Eco wood design came and met with my wife and I and immediately it was clear that we had approached the right person. The whole design process was constructive, Stephen is a good listener, quickly understanding our wants in terms of design and wood type and with his obvious experience was able to put ideas forward that only added to the success of our little project. What was impressive about Steve was not only the outstanding table he made for us, but also the serious time and effort he took to consult with us, listen to what we wanted and put up with our procrastination. He visited our home to see how the chosen timber, size and shape would fit and to recommend something appropriate. The result of this is a stunning, custom made coffee table that is not only functional but is a truly beautiful piece of furniture.
